Barely a day goes by without some reminder of the all-important power of mobile. As responsive web design grows in popularity, and as City Web Consultants find ourselves inundated with your enquiries about how to make the most of mobile, businesses are starting to receive the message loud and clear:
Your customers have gone mobile, and it’s important you go with them.
Yet according to a recent report jointly-produced by customer measurement and analytics platform Venuelabs and the Location Based Marketing Association (LBMA), many businesses are still moving slowly when it comes to realising the full potential of mobile and taking advantage of the tools at their disposal.
The Mobile Consumer Benchmark reports looked at merchants with a physical presence in over 365 cities, and found that consumers are using their mobiles to engage with brands on over 11 different channels.
Far above simply logging on to a store’s mobile website, consumers are finding more and more ways to interact with brands, sharing a wealth of different content in the process.
They’re clocking up check-ins on Facebook and location-based apps such as Foursquare, they’re using Instagram to post pictures of products, they’re heading to review sites to share their experiences, and that’s just for starters.
Of course, this all sounds like pretty good news. After all, what could possibly be wrong with your customers being out there, talking about your business?
Simple: Most businesses aren’t actually listening on the conversations.
According to the report by Venuelabs and the LBMA, a staggering 87% of the businesses they tracked were missing out on the feedback their customers were providing. As if that number wasn’t big enough, it’s perhaps even more surprising when you consider that there are ready-made tools available to help businesses tune in to what’s being said, such as the increasingly popular Adobe Analytics.
What this means for you
Naturally, you don’t want to be one of those businesses who are failing to pick up on the wealth of content mobile customers are sharing about your business. You want to be there, at the heart of the conversation, engaging your customers and increasing your revenue in the process.
If you haven’t even thought about mobile before, now’s the time to do it. At City Web Consultants, our developers are on hand to build websites and applications fully opitimised for smartphone and tablet devices.
Beyond that, why not talk to our mobile experts about enhancing and expanding your mobile presence outside of your website. We’ll be glad to offer and advice and support to help you go where your customers are get in on the conversation.
